Iriana DeJesus

Hello hello True Crime Club and welcome back to the blog! Today we’re going to do something a little different than we have been doing. BUT don’t worry, it’s still True Crime related. Today we’re going to be talking about Iriana DeJesus. *This contains sensitive information that may not be suitable for all readers*

Iriana DeJesus better known as “Nena” was born on January 30th 1995, she was 5 years old and just like any other 5 year old, enjoying her day out in the sun playing with her sister on July 29th, 2000 her mother walked back into the house for a few moments but when she returned, her daughter was gone. After the investigation had begun, witnesses state that they saw Iriana walking with a hispanic man.

Looking further into the hispanic man that neighbors described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 130 to 140 lbs, scars on his forehead and right cheek. They stated that he informed them that he was from Honduras and was seeking a job and seeking shelter. Neighbors later state that they had noticed he had disappeared around the same time that Iriana went missing. With the neighbors assistance law enforcement was able to put a warrant for questioning out and give the sketch given to them, to America’s Most Wanted.

Unfortunately, 5 days later, Iriana’s body was found in the basement of an empty apartment where Flores resides. She was wrapped in a trash bag and after further examination of the crime scene, there was a t-shirt with a political logo found nearby with Iriana’s blood on it that was later tied to a man named Carlos (one of Flores’ alias'). Upon the autopsy report, it was revealed that Iriana had been sexually assaulted and then strangled.

Alexis Flores is a Hondouran native man who worked as a handyman. Flores is an illegal immigrant who has a criminal history of shoplifting and has an extensive background of noise complaints to his residency. He was also arrested for possession of a forgery device after he had submitted false documents to law enforcement. Alexis Flores also went through a few different aliases such as Mario Flores, Mario Roberto, and Alex AND Alesis Contreras. But the aliases didn’t stop there, it was impossible for detectives to have found his legitimate date of birth because he used different ones such as July 18,1975, September 15,1980, July 18, 1982 and July 17, 1982. His arrest history is in Arizona, after his prison term he was deported back to Honduras in 2005. However he wasn’t added into Iriana’s murder until after he had already been deported.

His hair was black, his eyes were brown and he was a slim man of a light complexion. They stated that he informed them that he was from Honduras and was seeking a job and seeking shelter. With the neighbors assistance law enforcement was able to put a warrant for questioning out and give the sketch given to them, to America’s Most Wanted. Flores is considered extremely dangerous and heavily armed.
